El/La Para TransLatinas & Trans Advocacy Abroad

Nicole Santamaría, Executive Director of El/La Para TransLatinas, recently met with Pope Francis as part of a diverse group of transgender, intersex, and ally Catholics, to discuss the Church’s approach to LGBTQIA+ issues. Following recent Vatican statements on transgender care, the group from New Ways Ministry called for a shift toward greater understanding and compassion from Church leaders, and to listen more attentively to the lives and faith of LGBTQIA+ people.

El/La Para TransLatinas has long championed the rights of trans, intersex, and gender-diverse Latinx people, and we are dedicated to seeing that our community is given the dignity, rights, and respect that we deserve. You can read more about the visit here, and support El/La's ongoing advocacy and direct services for our community here.
